Atelier E.B index® Neck Piece 220, Sunny Tartan

A streamline alternative to a neck scarf, these printed cotton rib dickies add a pop of colour and pattern, tuck perfectly under a jumper or shirt, and cover the neck without adding a garment layer to your outfit. Neck pieces and dickies have been part of practical wardrobes for centuries, and detachable collars and cuffs extended the life of favourite, or more costly clothing. Although unisex, these models are designed with the menopausal woman in mind, whose hot flashes mean layers must be easily removable for comfort.

This tartan print was originally used on silkscreen printed garments in 2007 as part of a collection of Beca Lipscombe’s eponymous label, and here it is reproduced as a digital print. Together with index® they have recoloured and overdyed the check to achieve subtle and sun-kissed results. Atelier E.B work with familiar design motifs, ones that have been reused and revised by successive civilisations, patterns like Greek ornament, Paisley pattern, and here geometric tartan. By using contemporary production techniques to interpret them, they highlight the vitality and adaptability that makes so many people want them to be part of their wardrobes.
