This Paisley style motif, found in the archive of the Paisley Museum, was one of the first graphics Beca used to experiment with digital printing on textiles after a lifetime of silk-screen printing. At that time, to offset the inherent coldness of the digital process, she printed on to textured corduroy fabric. Sixteen years later she revisits the print again this time in collaboration with index®, cutting up the motif, recolouring and over-dying to give it warmth on this organic European cotton jersey. The subtle tone, implying weathered fading, makes it an innately relaxed garment, invested with memory, nevertheless ready to have your story imprinted on it.
