Disgrace Sunset sweatshirt. Made from European-grown organic 200g cotton, it depicts a famous landmark on Edinburgh’s Calton Hill, the National Monument of Scotland, colloquially known as ‘Edinburgh's Disgrace’ under a summer sunset. The monument was originally intended as a commemoration to fallen Scottish soldiers, and replicates the Parthenon in Athens, but due to lack of funds only the front portico was constructed, and a specific purpose was never ascribed. Now it sits, a striking folly on the panorama of the Edinburgh skyline, all drama and no script. A fragment that embodies the imprudence and violence of Nineteenth-century classical revival architecture and attitudes.
